Ahead of the inaugural Esports World Cup (EWC), EWCF, the organiser of the annual tournament, has announced a string of new partnerships.
Leading South Korean consumer electronics brand LG and beverage behemoth Pepsi are poised to partner the event, which will run from July 4 through August 25 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Under the deals, LG through its UltraGear line becomes the main partner as well as the exclusive gaming monitor sponsor of the tournament, while Pepsi has become a strategic founding partner and earned naming rights for the Falcons venue.
As sponsors, it is no surprise that LG and Pepsi are also planning to activate significantly at the event with in-person product trials and other fan engagement opportunities.
Meanwhile, EWC sponsors will also have global exposure as a deal has been struck between the EWCF, global sporting streaming platform DAZN, and media giant Warner Brothers Discovery earlier.
According to ASN data, esports has seen sponsorship investment of almost US$71.4m since Q421 across Asia, with an average quarterly investment of US$5.9m+ during this period.
As for Q324, investment for esports is forecasted to hit US$4.5m+, about 24% below the average quarterly investment, however, it is showing promise of recovery from lowly US$1.5m in Q224.
