Puma has become the official kit partner of JSW-owned Delhi Capitals to boost its presence in the T20 cricketing landscape and reach the franchise’s hordes of fans.
Under the multi-year deal, the sport brand’s logo will be prominent on the leading arm of the match shirts of both the (IPL) men’s and (WPL) women’s teams of Delhi Capitals. Puma will also supply the franchise’s training apparel.
Commenting on this collaboration, Karthik Balagopalan, MD, Puma India said, “We are thrilled to partner with Delhi Capitals and begin our association with the young vibrant team. As a brand, Puma has continuously championed cricket across levels, and this alliance underscores our commitment towards building the future generation of cricket as well as strong sports merchandising assets. Sukhvinder Singh, interim CEO, Delhi Capitals, added, “Delhi Capitals is beyond thrilled to partner with Puma for both our women’s and men’s squads. We’re confident that this partnership which kicks off with the upcoming seasons of the Women’s Premier League and the Indian Premier League is going to be a cracking success.”
According to ASN data, Puma (45.9%, ~US$25.6m) has been the second largest investor for its category—only behind its rival and Indian national team kit sponsor Adidas (49%, US$27.3m+)—in India’s lively cricket sponsorship landscape since Q221. Apart from Delhi Capitals, Puma also has blockbuster endorsement deals with Indian stars Virat Kohli (~US$2.5m) and KL Rahul (US$365k), as well as, Kohli-led IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore (US$1m+).
