Vietnam’s emerging football league has been boosted by two recent sponsorship deals.
South Korean conglomerate LS Holdings is poised to be a title sponsor of Vietnam’s top two football league divisions this season.
The one-year agreement was struck between LS Holdings and Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF).
The conglomerate has business interests in Vietnam, including cable manufacturer LS Cable & System Asia whose products are widely used in construction nationwide.
Prior to this deal, LS Holdings had backed V.League 2 last season. Following the announcement, Ahn Won-Hyung, vice-chairman of LS Group, said, “LS pledges to fulfill the role of the main sponsor, accompanying VPF (Vietnam Professional Football) to contribute to the development of professional football in Vietnam.”
The 2020 V.League 1 season will feature 14 teams, while V. League 2 will have 12 teams. VPF said it would working with media rights partner the Next Media agency to ensure that all games from V. League 1 and 80% of the games from V. League are broadcast this season, across television and OTT platforms. It’s also heavily mooted that there would be improvements in the quality of television production, including an increase in the number of cameras used to broadcast matches.
Meanwhile, homegrown airline Bamboo Airways has renewed its title sponsorship of Vietnam’s Nation Football Cup, after joining the roster last year. It will also become the official transportation partner of Vietnamese football competitions for the rest of 2020, offering travel packages as part of the deal.
