The project with Ping An comes under the insurance company’s football activation programme ‘Ping An China’s Football Charity Agenda’. The programme saw a similar project launched with CSL club Beijing Sinobo Guoan in Beijing in October 2017.
Jiangsu Suning has partnered with Ping An Hope School in Tongshan county, Xuzhou, Jiangsu, in an initiative that will see 24 young players, including 12 students from the Tongshan Ping An Hope School, train at a Jiangsu Suning summer football camp.
Ping An has renewed its title sponsorship of the Chinese Super League (CSL) in May 2017 in a 5-year deal worth US$145m. The company has been the title sponsor of the CSL since 2014, paying an initial US$87m for a 4-year deal and becoming the first main sponsor of the CSL from the insurance industry and the CSL’s most lucrative Chinese sponsorship deal to date.
As well as sponsoring the CSL and working with clubs, Ping An has also contributed to the state government’s campus ambitious football initiative with insurance coverage worth US$14.5m to the China Youth Development Foundation. It is also the official financial sponsor of the Chinese national team.
With Jiangsu Suning’s owners also owning Italian club Inter Milan, we wouldn’t rule out Ping An Insurance making a global sponsorship statement soon.
