The 28-year-old Kohli will feature in all print and electronic media campaigns of the brand for the next two years, as it aims to expand across Europe and USA. Manyavar, which was founded in 1999, has become one of the most profitable homegrown labels and has an over 30% market share in men’s celebration wear category. The brand’s rapid rise has been partly attributed to the sponsoring the outfits of IPL teams such as Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Daredevils and Hyderabad Sunrisers. It has also been the title sponsor of the Bangladesh football league in the 2014/15 season.
Speaking about its latest association, Ajay Modi, director, Manyavar, said, “We are delighted to have Virat as the ambassador for our brand Manyavar. He is a role model for the youth and the perfect fit for what the brand is trying to convey. Also, Virat has strong national appeal and he is the most relatable figure for the audience that Manyavar is targeting. Following M.S. Dhoni’s retirement from India’s test team in December 2014, Kohli has become the most coveted brand in the cricket world, with his value estimated to be worth US$92.4m this year.
