Japanese sport brand Asics has struck a partnership with tennis icon Novak Djokovic to nurture the sport’s youth development globally.
The collaboration hopes to inspire and empower young athletes to reach their full potential through mentorship, training resources, and innovative product development.
Under the deal, Asics and Djokovic are poised to team up on several initiatives; namely youth tennis programmes, community outreach campaigns and product development.
Asics has a storied history of backing youth tennis in Asia, particularly in China. Since 2022, the brand has hosted its own branded event, the Asics Junior Tennis Tour, which was upgraded to a “China Tennis Junior Tour” Category B event in 2024. Additionally, Asics partnered with the Samaranch Foundation to create a tennis cultural exhibition that showcased key moments from Olympic tennis.
Djokovic’s recent visit to China also offered young players invaluable exchange opportunities and fostered closer ties between Chinese and international tennis circles.
According to ASN data, Asics (6.4%, US$982k) is the 4th largest spender for its category in tennis sponsorship across Asia since Q122, with a quarterly average investment of US$81k+ during this period. In terms of markets; China (76.2%) and India (23.6%) are the main ones for the Japanese sport brand’s spends.
