Mercari, a leading Japanese e-commerce platform, have partnered with American racing team MoneyGram Haas F1 Team.
The collaboration began with the resale platform’s branding emblazoned on the livery of Haas’ cars at the recently concluded Japanese Grand Prix at the Suzuka Circuit last weekend and will continue with the F1 team’s three home races in the United States: Miami (May 3-5), Austin (October 18-20) and Las Vegas (November 21-23).
Mercari’s online platform, is available in Japan and USA, and provides a community for casual sellers, deal seekers, and avid collectors to easily buy and sell motorsport merchandise from apparel to rare collectibles.
According to ASN data, Mercari has had a consistently average quarterly investment of between US$131k to US$135k since Q122, with the exception of Q124. In recent years, the platform which owns J1 League football club Kashima Antlers, has bankrolled the club with sponsorship deals worth US$524k and US$540k respectively over the past two seasons. Its latest play with the Haas’ team will surely lift its investment in the Asian sponsorship landscape.
