Visit Qatar, the nation’s tourism authority, has become the official partner of the Lusail International Circuit for the 2024 season.
The deal sees Visit Qatar as the official tourism partner of the Lusail International Circuit as they collaborate on a thrilling year of motorsports events in the country.
Following the deal, Eng. Abdulaziz Ali Al-Mawlawi, Chief Marketing and Promotions Officer at Qatar Tourism, said, “Visit Qatar has signed a sponsorship agreement with Lusail International Circuit for two of the major events held at their esteemed establishment in 2024. As part of our tourism strategy, we have been focusing our efforts in diversifying our offerings to provide an eclectic variety of events to accommodate all discernments.”
“Collaborations such as these strengthen the tourism sector allowing organisations to provide their best offerings, in turn positively impacting the country’s economy. Organising and hosting internationally renowned events such as the MotoGP Grand Prix of Qatar 2024 and Formula 1 Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix 2024 is a testament to Qatar’s capability and world class infrastructure qualified to host large-scale events.”
Amro Al-Hamad, Executive Director of Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) and CEO of Lusail International Circuit (LIC), added, “Partnering with Visit Qatar strengthens our commitment to achieving a shared vision of bringing people together to celebrate sports. We are excited for this year’s events that promise even a stronger attendance by motorsports fans. LIC is becoming an international and regional hub for motorsports, positioning Qatar to be a global destination for world-class motorsports events.”
Recently Qatar Tourism, has been banking on the rise of motorsports events to ramp up tourism. Lusail International Circuit has recently hosted the MotoGP Qatar Airways Grand Prix, the opening race of the 2024 season, last weekend. It will also host the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Grand Prix 2024 on December 1.
According to ASN data, motorsports (9.7%, US$1.35 billion) is the 4th highest backed sport in the Asian sponsorship landscape since Q221. The three biggest markets for the sport are Japan (50.3%), Malaysia (21.5%) and Singapore (8.7%). Meanwhile, Government Body/Tourism is tipped to contribute to almost US$20.4m in Q124, over 2.3x of the average quarterly investment of US$8.8m.
