Skyscanner India has made Team India’s popular T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav (SKY) as its first celebrity endorser in India.
The landmark deal is a significant one for the company as it sees India as one of its fastest emerging markets globally.
Skyscanner’s decision to work with one of India’s most renowned cricketers comes just ahead of the upcoming Asia Cup T20 series, which sees India as one of the favourites to triumph.
Following the deal, Vipin Grover, India Growth & Marketing Lead, Skyscanner, stated, “This is finally happening – SKY with Skyscanner! Undoubtedly one of the key highlights of the career: onboarding SKY as the very first brand ambassador for Skyscanner India. India is set to become one of the fastest growing markets for Skyscanner and we have exciting plans ahead. An extraordinary collaborative effort, so proud we could make this happen in our very first year.”
Suryakumar Yadav, Skyscanner Brand Ambassador, who is represented by RISE Worldwide, added, “Travel has always been something that excites me as much as cricket- whether it is exploring new places during tours or discovering hidden gems on break. Partnering with Skyscanner feels natural because it’s about making travel simple, smart, and full of possibilities. I’m looking forward to inspiring more fans to combine their love for cricket with the joy of discovering the world.”
With a growing middle class and tech-savvy, mobile-first demographic in India, Skyscanner believes the partnership with the 34-year-old ace batsman will boost brand awareness and customer acquisition across the nation.
This collaboration is believed to extend beyond a typical endorsement, and begins with an exciting contest on Skyscanner India and SKY’s social media pages, encouraging participants to create a highly customised travel plan for SKY using Skyscanner’s features.
Users may also share their ultimate vacation plans, including underrated spots, hidden gems, and real local experiences. The best ten entries will be awarded with a unique meet-and-greet with SKY, allowing the community to connect with a celebrity.
According to ASN data, the Hotel & Hospitality/Pureplay Online category is forecasted to invest almost US$82.6m in Q325, a 28.7% hike from the usual average quarterly sponsorship investment of almost US$64.2m since Q422. The figure is also a significant uplift from the muted first half of 2025 which only saw a collective investment of nearly US$55.8m. Inevitably, China (80.8%) and India (19.2%) are the main markets for investment.
