Qatar Airways have sealed a multi-year deal with MotoGP, the elite global motorcycle racing series.
The agreement will see the airline as the official and cargo airline partner for the series.
Under the deal, Qatar’s national carrier has exclusive rights to provide passenger and cargo transportation for MotoGP operations. Fans attending races across the world can also leverage on the commercial flights offered by the carrier. The airline has also extended charter flight services to championship personnel, ensuring efficient travel for teams and staff.
Moreover, the carrier’s air freight wing is poised to play a pivotal role in transporting essential racing equipment to the over twenty races in the series held across five continents.
Looking beyond air travel and logistics, the deal also sees the airline’s branding emblazoned on trackside at several venues in the racing calendar, including title sponsorship of the Qatar and Australian legs of the series.
According to ASN data, Qatar Airways (18.9%, slightly over US$77.8m) is the 2nd largest spender for its category since Q321, with a quarterly average investment of US$7m+ during this period. Apart from a key Pan-Asian deal with PSG worth over US$17.5m, the carrier also has significant deals with the Philippines Football League (US$2m), IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore (US$2.7m) and Ironman 70.3 (US$515k).
