Qatar Airways has recently expanded its partnership with reigning Serie A champions Inter Milan.
Under the new deal, the national carrier of Qatar is poised to become the Serie A club’s main training kit partner and also retain its status as its official airline partner.
Qatar Airways will replace LeoVegas.News, the online football news portal owned by the eponymous Swedish mobile gaming company which became the Serie A giant’s training kit sponsor in February 2023. That deal was worth about US$5.4m per season.
Following the deal announcement, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, said, “As we commemorate our deepening partnership with Inter with the new title of the Official Main Training Kit Partner, it reflects to shared successes during our first season together. We have witnessed the team achieve the status as the best team in Italy while we also took the position of the World’s Best Airline this year.
As part of the new agreement, Qatar Airways’ branding will now be prominently featured on all training apparel and warm-up kits in all competitions, including Serie A, Coppa Italia, UEFA Champions League, and the FIFA Club World Cup. The expanded partnership also covers all Inter teams, including the women and youth teams.
According to ASN data, Qatar Airways (21%, US$78.2m+) is the 2nd largest spender for its category in the Asian sponsorship market since Q421, with a quarterly average investment of US$7.7m+ during this period. Most of its key investment deals tend to be in football, particularly a Pan-Asian deal worth US$17.5m with Ligue 1 giant PSG and a US$2m deal with the Philippines Football League.
