Fresh off stellar individual performances at the recent ICC Women’s T20 World, Puma has secured celebrity endorsements from Indian female cricketers Asha Sobhana and Sajana Sajeevan as its latest brand ambassadors.
Under the collaboration, the talented duo are also featured in Puma’s ongoing ‘You Need Balls’ campaign that spotlights the power, perseverance and pioneering spirit of female athletes.
Following the deal, Asha Sobhana mentioned, “I am thrilled to team up with Puma. This collaboration not only empowers me as an athlete but also symbolises the growing recognition and support for women’s cricket in India. Together, we can inspire young girls to chase their dreams.”
Sajana Sajeevan echoed, “Joining forces with Puma is a dream come true. Their commitment to promoting women in sports aligns perfectly with our goals as athletes. I hope our journey encourages others to embrace their passion and push boundaries.”
According to ASN data, Puma (25.8%, ~US$26.3m) is the 2nd largest spender for its category in Indian sponsorship market since Q122, with a quarterly average investment of US$2.2m+ during this period.
Besides backing IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in a US$1m+ deal, it also has a slew of celebrity endorsements from the world of cricket and Bollywood, including Virat Kohli (~US$2.5m), KL Rahul (US$365k) Kareena Kapoor Khan (US$579k) and Anushka Sharma (US$563k).
Puma—which has recently experimented with a virtual Moroccan influencer in Laila in the global market—also has apparel deals with Indian football clubs Bengaluru FC and Mumbai City FC.
