Social media and technology behemoth Meta has secured a multi-year partnership with global MMA entity UFC.
As the official fan technology partner, Meta will seamlessly integrate UFC content across its diverse range of popular technology, social media, and messaging services.
The far-reaching deal focuses on Meta becoming UFC’s first Official Fan Technology Partner, as well as its first Official AI Glasses Partner (Ray-Ban Meta) and Official Social Media Partner (Threads). Additionally, Meta AI, Meta Glasses, Meta Quest, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads will be used to “immerse fans deeper into UFC content than ever before.
When it comes to sponsorship activation, Meta will gain branding placement inside the octagon at UFC events, as well as co-branded broadcast features and live fan engagement.
Speaking on the partnership UFC president and chief executive Dana White stated, “Meta has the greatest minds in tech and [it is] going to take fan engagement to the next level. We’ve already started to work on some innovations with Meta around a new fighter rankings system that I’ll be sharing soon. The next few years will be an absolute game changer for fans of this sport.”
According to ASN data, technology/social network category have collectively invested US$13.7m since Q322, with an average quarterly investment of US$1.1m+ during this period. As for Q225, the forecast is poised to see an investment of US$1.3m+, about 17.3% above the usual average. The deals tend to be between US$79k and US$1.1m, with the biggest deal being Line backing Japan’s B.League.
