Fintech unicorn-to-be BharatPe has secured a global partnership deal with the International Cricket Council (ICC), the world governing body of cricket, until the end of 2023.
The multi-year deal involves the upcoming ICC World Test Championship between India and New Zealand, the 2023 Cricket World Cup, the next two editions of the men’s T20 World Cup, the 2022 U19 World Cup and 2023 World Test Championship.
The investment comes on the back of raising significant funding of US$108m – a Series D round valuing the company at US$900m – in February earlier this year.
Apart from the international men’s tournaments, major ICC female cricket tournaments such as the 2022 Women’s World Cup and 2022 Women’s T20 World Cup are included in the deal.
As well as receiving extensive brand exposure across all platforms for major ICC tournaments during this period, the partnership will also allow the digital payments app to roll out ICC themed campaigns to engage with shop owners and cricket fans across India.
BharatPe already has a pool of India’s leading cricketers as celebrity endorsers including the likes of Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Sanju Samson, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul.
The ICC’s global partners currently include Nissan, Oppo, MRF Tyres, Booking.com, Byju’s and Emirates. The global governing body also has official partnerships with MoneyGram, Bira91, Coca-Cola and Star Sports.
