The reigning Indian Premier League champions will be sharing screen time with both brands both on and off the field in the upcoming season, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have stated.
SNJ owned liquor brands have a strong foothold across various markets in South India. Apparently, SNJ’s flagship brand British Empire and CSK’s mascot is a lion. Under the deal, CSK players’ jersey will carry the logo of SNJ 10000 on the leading arm and the logo of British Empire on the back of the helmet.
SNJ chairman Jayamurugan is excited about the development and feels the tie-up will mean a lot for any brand that has leveraged this opportunity. “Team CSK and brands from the SNJ Group are larger than life and much loved. And a tie-up like this will be a roaring success,” he mentioned in a media statement earlier this week.
CSK, led by the Indian skipper MS Dhoni, are a powerhouse of the IPL both on-field and off-field commercially. The team’s current high-profile deals include India Cements (~US$2.5m), Gulf Oil (~US$414k) and Muthoot Group (~US$2.5m).
