Maison Margiela Fragrances has struck a deal with Chinese table tennis champion Sun Yingsha as its latest brand ambassador.
The 24-year-old World Number 1 female table tennis player, who successfully defended her singles crown with a relentless four set win over North Korean Pyon Songgyon, began the collaboration by plugging Lazy Sunday Morning EDT and Sailing Day EDT, two of the brand’s bestselling perfumes.
The first campaign, A Celebration of Scent and Glory, has already been a viral hit on Chinese social media platforms with many fans engaging with her sleek, all-white avatar and believing it makes her cute, cool and refreshing.
According to ASN data, FMCG: Cosmetics & Toiletries category have invested US$258.4m+ in Asia’s sponsorship industry since Q422, with an average quarterly investment of US$23.4m during this period. The forecast for Q325 is tipped to hit US$21m after a rather lacklustre first half of 2025 which witnessed a collective investment of US$21.2m.
Meanwhile, China (54.4%), India (14.5%) and Japan (13.3%) are the three top markets for sponsorship investment, and the bulk of these deals tend to be celebrity endorsements in the US$200k to US$400k range.
