Sponsors have flocked to back the third season of World Padel League (WPL) in Mumbai, cementing its position as one of world’s fastest-growing racket sport properties.
Leading the sponsorship charge is Dubai-based Meteora Developers as title sponsor while Maisour takes on the next biggest sponsorship as the “powered by” mantle.
Besides the two main sponsors, the likes of EaseMyTrip (Official Travel Partner), Bisleri (Official Hydration Partner), Qorum India (Official Timekeeper), NOX (Official Equipment Partner), Crepdog Crew (Official Lifestyle Partner), Nanavati Max Super Speciality Hospital (Official Healthcare Partner), Radio One (Official Radio Partner), Bright Outdoor Media (Official Outdoor Media Partner) and District by Zomato (Official Ticketing Partner) are also part of the commercial portfolio.
The likes of Hudle, XRT, Dr. Umed Cosmetics and Enchant XP are also supporting partners further enhancing the league’s commercial appeal.
Hemali Sharma, Co-Founder, World Padel League, stated, “We’re truly thankful for the incredible support from our partners. Our goal has always been to create a space where brands don’t just show up, but genuinely engage with a sharp, urban audience, while being part of a sport that’s still unfolding its story. We’re excited to keep building these relationships as we bring together world-class talent, unforgettable experiences, and a new community of fans and brands who believe in the future of padel as much as we do.”
Backed by the India Padel Federation (IPF), 36 of the world’s top padel players representing six city based franchises are poised to compete for top honours this season from August 12 to 16 in Mumbai.
The WPL’s emerging sponsorship ecosystem goes beyond commercial success, but strengthens professional padel’s moves towards becoming a mainstream sport in india.
While the data for padel related sponsorship investment has yet to be updated in ASN, the closest racquet sport we can compare it to is squash which has seen investment of US$9.2m in the Asian sponsorship market since Q422, with an average quarterly investment of US$770k during this period. The sport’s fast-growing status in Asia will make it an exciting one to watch in the years to come.
