Japanese sport brand Yonex has renewed its long-term deal with the Tennis Premier League (TPL).
The extension underlines Yonex’s desire to promote tennis in India. As the official equipment partner, Yonex Sunrise India will continue to provide its high-quality rackets, strings, and other essential gear to the TPL players and organisers for the sixth consecutive season.
Besides the Yonex extension, the TPL has also announced a deal and renewal with The Bridge, a leading Indian sports news platform and drinking water brand Clearpani respectively.
The likes of Sumit Nagal, Rohan Bopanna, Hugo Gaston and Elina Avanesyan will be in action from December 3 to 8, 2024 at Mumbai’s Cricket Club of India.
According to ASN data, Yonex Sunrise—the racquet arm of the popular Japanese sport brand—is the 2nd highest spender for its category with an 11.6% share and investing over US$31.6m+ in the Asian sponsorship market since Q421. The brand has a quarterly average investment of almost US$2.8m during this period, and Q324 is tipped to hit almost US$3.1m, about 10.7% increase from the average. The two biggest market for the brand continues to be Malaysia (53.2%) and India (41.5%).
As for tennis sponsorship in India, the sport has a measly 0.3% market share, with an almost US$4.2m spend since Q421, with an average quarterly investment of US$349k during this period. The recent sponsorship deals the TPL has scored would clearly boost our projected forecast of a mere US$38k for Q324.
