Qatar Airways has negotiated a deal to become title sponsor of the international Premier Padel tour, run by Qatar Sports Investments (QSI).
Under the deal, the tour – in its debut season – will be renamed the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour, with the December finals in Barcelona, Spain, becoming the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Finals.
Moreover, the national carrier of Qatar has become Premier Padel’s official airline partner. Qatar Airways and Premier Padel are poised to team up to design custom travel experiences to engage both players and fans.
Following the announcement, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, chair of Premier Padel, said, “We are delighted to welcome Qatar Airways as the new title sponsor of Premier Padel. We are entering a fantastic new era for the sport and our collaboration with Qatar Airways will deliver exceptional experiences for players and fans, as well as global visibility for the tour.”
Qatar Airways’ group chief executive officer, Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, added, “Padel is thriving with ever-increasing participation around the world. Our global network will serve as the perfect way to connect fans, players, and the officials on this 25-destination tour. We look forward to playing our role in accelerating the popularity and growth of padel as official title partner and official airline partner of the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour.”
The past week has been an eventful one for Qatar Airways, which also renewed its deal with the UEFA European Championships. As for Premier Padel, it also has Red Bull, Mondo, MejorSet and Wilson as partners to back the series and support the expansion of the sport.
According to ASN data, Qatar Airways (18.9%, US$77.8m+) is the second largest spender for its category across the Asian sponsorship market since Q321, with a quarterly average investment of slightly above US$7m since then. The carrier’s main markets are the Philippines (54.2%), India (40.5%) and Singapore (5.3%). The brand’s blockbuster deals include Pan-Asian ones with Paris St Germain (US$17.5m+), Formula 1 (US$5m) and Ironman 70.3 (US$515K). Other key deals include IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore (US$2.7m) and Philippines Football League (US$2m).
