Ahead of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 in Japan, Indonesia, and the Philippines, sport drink giant Gatorade has secured a sponsorship deal for the tournament.
Under the deal, Gatorade will be a major local sponsor of the 32-team event, which will take place between August 25 and September 10. Throughout the tournament, it will supply products to athletes and fans during the event.
Gatorade has joined the likes of Yili, Ganten, Google, J9.basketball, Molten, Nike, TCL, Tencent, Tissot and Wanda Group in backing the FIBA tournament.
According to ASN data, Gatorade (6.2%,~US$7.3m) is the 5th highest player for the sport drink beverage category in the Asian sponsorship market since Q420. The bulk of its spends are focused on China (69.9%) and South Korea (17.6%) and the deals tend to be in athletics, football and basketball.
