Premier League clubs Crystal Palace FC and Wolverhampton Wanderers FC have secured significant partnership deals with Asian online betting platforms.
Crystal Palace FC have secured a new multi-year sponsorship deal with NET88, an Asian online betting platform.
Under the deal, NET88 will feature as the men’s official front-of-shirt sponsor for the 2024/25 season. The betting platform’s logo will also appear on the club’s official training apparel.
NET88, which offers online gambling services, will also have exposure around Selhurst Park on matchdays and on the website.
Meanwhile, Wolves have sealed a similar multi-year deal with DEBET, a leading Southeast Asian online betting platform.
The deal sees the gaming platform’s logo on the front of Wolves’ playing and training kits for the upcoming 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons.
The deals—which have come under criticism— will end right before the voluntary ban on Premier League shirt sponsorship deals with betting companies from 2026/27, a decision that was voted by Premier League clubs in April 2023.
According to ASN data, Gambling/Pure Play Online category (4.2%, US$181.2m+) is the 8th largest spender in the Asian football sponsorship market since Q321, with a quarterly average investment of US$16.9m+ during this period. The deals range from US$1m to US$10m, and tend to focus on European football club partnerships. These partnerships give the brands opportunities to market in popular European football leagues and appealing to Asian markets where online gambling and gambling advertising is illegal.
