Returning for the second year, Thailand’s leading sports beverage SPONSOR returns as the title sponsor for the Women’s Volleyball Nations League (VNL) Finals 2024 in Thailand.
The move comes after SPONSOR successfully backed the last edition of the tournament, and enabled the beverage brand to bank on the massive popularity of the sport in Thailand and globally. It aims to cement its ties with elite volleyball and tap into the success of the celebrated Thai women’s national team.
As the title sponsor, SPONSOR is poised to be on the forefront across a range of innovative and dynamic marketing channels at the tournament, hoping to captivate and engage fans in and around the stadium.
Following the announcement, Volleyball World CEO Finn Taylor said, “We are very pleased to once again welcome SPONSOR as the title sponsor of the Women’s Volleyball Nations League Finals 2024 – Thailand. It is a privilege to work with such an engaged and esteemed partner to grow the sport of volleyball in Thailand and engage with our growing audience around the Kingdom.”
Prapaipak Weigl, Global Marketing Director (F&B) of TCP Group, the parent company of SPONSOR, added, “This title sponsorship is in line with SPONSOR’s commitment to promote sports in Thailand, encourage the population to lead an active lifestyle and give Thai’s the opportunity to participate in international-level competitions. Following a successful partnership in 2023, we are excited for yet another year as title sponsors of the Women’s Volleyball Nations League Finals 2024 – Thailand.”
The Indoor Stadium Huamark in Bangkok is set to host the electrifying match-ups from the world’s best national women’s volleyball teams battling for the SPONSOR Women’s VNL Finals from June 20 to 23. Other than Finals hosts Thailand, the teams of Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, Poland, Serbia, Türkiye and the United States are the 15 squads vying for a place in the Finals.
According to ASN data, four countries, namely Thailand (31.3%), India (27.3%), Japan (24.1%) and China (13.1%) dominated the Asian volleyball sponsorship with a total investment of US$23.3m in 2022. Unsurprisingly, Thailand has been in the limelight and the first market to hit the lively pre-pandemic 2019 levels, and this has been largely due to its women’s national team punching above its weight in continental and international tournaments.
Meanwhile, Thai sports drink SPONSOR’s performance in the Asian sponsorship market has been cleverly strategic, obviously focusing on its blockbuster, title sponsorship deals worth US$350k and US$500k respectively with Volleyball World’s VNL in 2023 and 2024. These six-figure deals are a departure from its usual investment of US$25k to US$60k for backing domestic sporting events and teams.
