Japanese sports equipment brand Mikasa has become the official ball supplier for Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) events in 2025 and 2026, boosting the commercial appeal of the sport in the region.
The deal supported by Volleyball World—a pivotal backer of AVC events— is a continuation of its existing global partnership with Mikasa, and is part of a long-term deal from 2024 to 2032.
Besides last month’s AVC Women’s Champions League in Manila and the ongoing AVC Men’s Champions League in Kyoto and Osaka, Mikasa will also back the the AVC Women’s Nations Cup from 7-14 June in Vietnam and the AVC Men’s Nations Cup from 17–24 June in Bahrain.
AVC President Ramon Suzara said, “We are delighted that Mikasa has reaffirmed its commitment to volleyball through our continued partnership, now further strengthened with the involvement of Volleyball World. This collaboration ensures that our athletes and events benefit from the highest quality equipment. As we prepare to host the AVC Champions League and AVC Nations Cup this year, along with the Continental Championships in 2026, we look forward to further elevating the standard of our competitions and ensuring the growth of volleyball across Asia and beyond.”
Volleyball World Head of Sponsorship Oliver Clarke, stated, “This agreement reflects the strength of our long-term partnership with Mikasa and our shared commitment to growing volleyball across Asia. Extending the partnership between Mikasa and AVC’s flagship events is a significant move forward. With over half of the global volleyball fanbase located in Asia, the region holds tremendous potential, and we are proud to support the AVC in unlocking new opportunities for the sport.”
Mikasa President and CEO Yuji Saeki added, “With the support of Volleyball World now in place, I am thrilled to see the continued growth and rising excitement of volleyball across Asia.”
According to ASN data, Mikasa has invested almost US$3.3m in the Asian sponsorship market since Q322, with an average quarterly spend of US$305k during this period. After a muted Q125 with a mere investment of US$18k, Mikasa is forecasted to hit US$389k for Q225. The bulk of the brand’s deals tend to be in volleyball worth between US$54k and US$190k while the two biggest deals are with the China Volleyball League (~US$1.1m) and the Thailand National Women’s Volleyball team (US$457k).
