Bakrie Sponsors IBL Team
The Kalila team in the Indonesian Basketball League has changed its name to Pelita Jaya in order to conform with other sports teams sponsored by its new partner Bakrie Telecom. The team’s name change was made after signing a sponsorship agreement with the telecommunications company.
Pelita Jaya chairman Andiko Ardi Purnomo did not reveal the details of the new contract, but said that it would provide much-needed funds as the team enters the IBLs second round. Andiko did reveal that Bakrie would help the club build a new stadium for the 2010 season and run coaching clinics around Indonesia as a promotional activity for the team.
Under new management, the team has acquired a lot of new talent for this season. The funds provided by Bakrie will no doubt in part be spent on retaining the new stars.
