Sponsor Rewards Lee Chong Wei for Badminton Achievements

As main title sponsor of the Badminton Association of Malaysia, Proton has gifted the black Perdana to Lee as a reward both for his Olympic silver medal last August and for his current status as Malaysian number one.

In addition to the car from Proton, Lee has also received monetary rewards from the Malaysian National Sports Council and Badminton Association of Malaysia. He holds a number of endorsement deals, is a Unicef National Goodwill Ambassador, and has been Olympian of the Year and National Sportsman of the Year.

Malaysia’s recognition of Lee Chong Wei is encouraging, as badminton players in other SEA nations struggle for recognition both by potential sponsors and sports administrations. His success both in Beijing and in tournaments since is testament to the fact that international success comes through national support.
